ADDED VALUE

The collective identity of our team forms the foundation of our vision and thus the added value to achieve a successful result. The added value of our architecture revolves around the following aspects:

CONTEXT AND SURROUNDINGS ARE KEYS

Every project requires that we understand its soul but also the spirit of the times. Architecture must contribute to its surroundings both in the broad and narrow sense and must add aesthetic and cultural value to society and the individual’s life.

"WE MUST MOVE WITH THE TIMES."

LONG-TERM SUSTAINABILITY AS THE KEY

Sustainability in the long run is essential both in physical terms such as the choice of substantial elements as in emotional and intellectual terms and for the intangible side of architecture. Timeless buildings respect their surroundings and testify of a long-term architectural vision.

"TO BE TIMELESS, WE STRIVE TO BUILD FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS."

IMAGE AND EXPERIENCE ARE KEYS

Regarding the preconditions and user conditions for the built and imagined space, we are attuned to human needs and develop one specific concept: searching, processing and exchanging information to help one see and feel architecture. This encapsulates the societal dimension of Conix Architects.

"ARCHITECTURE MOVES PEOPLE AND EVOKES EMOTION."

KNOW-HOW COMBINED WITH BUSINESS ACUMEN

Experience has taught us how to approach every project in the best way, to choose the right partners, to efficiently control the economic aspect and to approach the project in a multidisciplinary way. Imagination and resourcefulness are the strengths we apply to fulfill quality and budgetary demands. The input of each individual is essential to create attractive and high quality results.

"BUDGET INPUTS ARE SUBJECT TO OUTPUT EVALUATIONS IN QUALITY."

Our primary task is building outstanding projects, irrespective of their size or difficulty. The result is always plural and provides an answer to the specific expectations, needs and objectives of the client.

HISTORY

In 1979, Christine Conix set up our own architectural practice, which became Architectenbureau Christine Conix in 1989. In 1997, the practice moved to its own offices in Antwerp and the number of collaborators has grown ever since. Conix Architects (since 2007) is run by Christine Conix (CEO) and Sylvie Bruyninckx, who became a partner in 2005. A team of creative and motivated collaborators form a solid structure both at the Antwerp based head office and the Brussels office (since 2004). In order to accommodate the growing international profile, a local office in Warsaw (Poland) was set up in 2009 in which a local architect represents Conix Architects for the office’s growing number of projects in Poland.

Conix Architects has grown steadily over the years, but its expansion has gained momentum in the last couple of years. The size and budget of the projects have increased over the years as well as the experience of the firm. During all these years their approach never changed: to deliver to clients creative and sustainable solutions combined with high quality design. Key projects include the modern master residence in the historic Cogels Osylei in Antwerp (1992) and the renovation and expansion of the Atomium in Brussels (2005).

Developing office buildings, apartments, housing and urban concepts form the base of the firm’s activities. Designing individual houses is considered as their building laboratory, thus helping them stay in touch with real living and building needs which have to be continuously examined, explored and refined.

PROFILE

Our portfolio is varied and ranges from private homes to housing complexes, from schools to cultural projects, from commercial buildings to offices, from banking to industrial projects, from interior to product design and from new construction to renovation. It is a conscious decision not to focus on one specific typology: every project offers its own challenges.

Our office has strong international ambitions. We do not restrict our client base to Belgium but also work abroad e.g. in France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, Italy, China and Poland.

Our international experience has allowed us to elaborate a clearly defined working method for projects abroad. For international projects, Conix Architects fulfills the role of leading architect for the concept design and we co-operate with a local architect for the tender and execution design and follow up on the worksite.

The nature, extent and budget are no determining factors to take on a project, but rather the opportunity of initiating a dialogue with the client who is open to contemporary and stylish architecture. The needs, wishes and expectations of the client are translated into buildings with a unique appearance based on contemporary concepts, displaying the highest quality of work.

We do not intrinsically strive to design buildings with a unique style, but above all try to meet the needs of the client and to provide an answer to the existing context. This way of working reflects the uniqueness of our work as we strive to achieve the guiding principles of spaciousness, communication between indoor and outdoor spaces, refinement and perfection.

VISION

The type of architecture we create provides a meaningful answer to a specific position in time and space, always characterised by an open spatial concept. The outward appearance of the design has to reflect its content.

We use this duality to create lucidity for the building, which is also expressed in relation to external and interior spaces. Experiencing the internal and external spaces should evoke surprise, questions and tranquillity.
